Micronations often referred as a new country project is a nation that claims independence but is not recognized by any official country. Micronations usually have their own flag, currency, coat of arms and Passports. Some Micronations are based on the internet, and are entirely fantasy, like the Aerican Empire.

The oldest micronation to date is the Kingdom of Redonda which was founded 1865 in the Caribbean. It is still active to date, with a king and aristocracy.

The most popular micronation is most likely Sealand, a micronation formed in the North Sea by Roy Paddy Bates, although micronations like Seborga and Molossia are also famous micronations.
